uh the next item is number 12 um it Daniel do Danielle yeah okay uh Danielle Doan Doan can you hear me do we see hi can you hear me yep there you go welcome uh you have three minutes thank you um is this the appropriate time to speak on um the bonds and the agenda I didn't hear the question uh yes yes this is your three minutes welcome okay excellent thank you Danielle Doan um I'm a a a Durham resident and part of Walltown Community Association um speaking tonight um just on the um planned $85 million bond for Parks I believe that's to be used for improvements in Long Meadow and East Durham parks
you all may remember that Eason Park is one of the um five Parks uh deeply affected by lead and other serious contamination um and so I'd propose two things one that we seriously consider any improvements that would um disrupt or move any sort of uh land or soil until the um the threat can be remediated um so as not to make it worse or um you know put particles into the air and cause more serious pollution for residents living near the parks um and people using the parks the other thing um is I would really encourage us to think more broadly about how we're using these bonds particularly to instead of routine expected maintenance um to think about you know using it for um helping to remediate the contamination that we know is in the Parks although we don't know
the full scope of the contamination at this time we know very well the contamination that is within the boundaries of these parks and I would like to see this bond in particular expanded to include um if not in full um at least partial remediation of the contamination in these Parks thank you for your time and consideration thank you so much colleagues I'll now entertain a motion to pass to uh oh yeah gotcha so colleagues I'll now entertain a motion to introduce a bond order authorizing the issuance of $85 million General obligation Parks and Recreation bonds of the city of Durham North Carolina move second Madam Clerk please open the
