The Andretti Indoor Karting venue next to Topgolf in Durham opens May 19. At 90,000 square feet, it is one of the larger entertainment footprints the city has seen in recent years.
The project has been in the works for years. That kind of runway is typical for venues this size, where buildout, permitting, and fit-out timelines stack up fast. Durham gets the result either way: a national entertainment brand planting a significant flag alongside an already-busy Topgolf.
The pairing matters. Topgolf draws a consistent crowd, and a venue next door inherits some of that traffic by proximity alone. Andretti's footprint suggests a range of offerings beyond go-karts, though the fact pack does not confirm specific attractions beyond the karting concept the brand is known for.
Durham's entertainment corridor keeps expanding. A third movie theater is coming to West Parrish Street in July. New all-day food and drink spots opened in April. The city's options for a night out look meaningfully different than they did two years ago. May 19 adds another anchor to that picture.
