Duke freshman forward Cameron Boozer is the AP men's national player of the year, giving Durham-based Duke the award winner in back-to-back seasons.
Boozer received 59 of 61 votes from AP Top 25 voters after leading Duke to 35 wins, a No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25, and an Elite Eight run. He was also a unanimous first-team AP All-American.
- Boozer averaged 22.5 points and 10.2 rebounds this season. He also averaged 4.1 assists while shooting 55.6% from the field and 39.1% from 3-point range.
- He finished tied for the national lead with 22 double-doubles.
- The award made Boozer the fifth freshman to win the honor. He joined Cooper Flagg in 2025, Zion Williamson in 2019, Anthony Davis in 2012, and Kevin Durant in 2007.
- Boozer is the son of former Duke star Carlos Boozer, adding another Duke tie to an award list the program already leads nationally.
The award adds another national marker to a season that kept Duke at the center of college basketball from November through March in Durham. Boozer is also widely projected as a top NBA prospect for the next draft cycle.
