Montwood Cafe has opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 123 Market Street Ste A in downtown Durham, marking the end of the brand's pop-up era and the start of a permanent home in the city.

The shop is owned by a Durham-based queer, interracial couple who spent roughly a year running Sunday morning coffee pop-ups at Northgate Park and along local trail heads before signing a lease on Market Street. They describe Montwood's mission as creating a nature-grounded gathering space for diverse community connections.

Inside, a green tile counter anchors the space alongside exposed brick, plants, and books. The menu features coffee sourced from multiple local Durham roasters, plus local pastries and a seasonal rotation. Dogs are welcome.

The soft-opening schedule runs Friday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., for the first few weeks. Full weekly hours are expected to roll out soon. Follow @montwoodcafe on Instagram for updates, or visit montwoodcoffee.com for the full story and private event bookings.
