Duke has its second offseason departure in two days after freshman Nikolas Khamenia entered the transfer portal Wednesday. Khamenia averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 38 games, including five starts, and had three years of eligibility remaining.

Khamenia is the second Duke player to enter the portal this week after sophomore guard Darren Harris went in Tuesday. Duke's season ended less than a week ago with a 73-72 Elite Eight loss to UConn.

  • Khamenia, a 6-foot-8 guard-forward from California, ranked No. 15 in the class of 2025 and arrived in Durham as a five-star recruit.
  • His role grew late in the season and into the postseason. He started five games and played 19.8 minutes a night.
  • He scored a season-high 14 points against Louisville, Syracuse, and Clemson. He also grabbed nine rebounds against Michigan State and Michigan.

The exit trims Duke's frontcourt and wing depth after a 32-2 season before the NCAA tournament loss. Khamenia had been used as a complementary piece alongside Cameron Boozer, Pat Ngongba, and Maliq Brown, with his minutes expanding as the year went on.

What's next: The men's transfer portal opened April 7, and Duke's offseason turnover is underway. Scheyer's roster decisions will shape how much Duke needs to add after losing Harris and Khamenia in the first week.
